The Westminster Parliamentary constituency of Dumfriesshire, Clydesdale and Tweeddale comprises parts of four former constituencies:

• Clydesdale
• Dumfries
• Galloway and Upper Nithsdale
• Tweeddale, Ettrick and Lauderdale.

Covering some 2000 square miles, this largely rural constituency stretches from the outskirts of Dumfries in the west to Peebles in the east, and from Gretna near the English Border up the M74 to Coalburn in Lanarkshire. It also includes Thornhill, Sanqhuar and Kirkconnel in Mid and Upper Nithsdale.
